Auxiliary & Gift Shop

“We’re small, but we have a lot!”

says Pershing Memorial Hospital’s Auxiliary Director Barbara Pointon.

Pershing Memorial Hospital’s Gift Shop is a hidden gem in Brookfield. Visitors to the hospital as well as the public are welcome to stop in.

They carry a lot of clothing items such as tunics, casual pants, ponchos, hats, gloves, scarves, and other items that are “one size fits all.” Other items include a line of quality costume jewelry, nail care items, and flip flops and slippers. Compression hose in various colors are available and the baby items in stock are very popular.

Candy items are in demand at the gift shop including every flavor of Jelly Belly jelly bean, Lindt truffles, and a large jar containing a mix of Hershey’s chocolates.

Children’s items such as coloring books, stuffed animals, dolls, and other toys are found here as well.

One thing the gift shop does not carry is fresh flowers because they don’t last very long.

The Pershing Memorial Hospital Auxiliary does so much more than run the Gift Shop. The Auxiliary’s main function is supporting the hospital wherever needed. The Auxiliary’s 17 members help nurses in the outpatient area. They raise money for the hospital with a twice-yearly book fair, through the Gift Shop, and through a portion of the sales through the hospital’s vending machines. Members help at the front desk with guiding visitors to the area of the hospital they are seeking and answering their questions.

The Auxiliary sponsors 12 students a year who want to enter the field of medicine with scholarships. They also support the doctors at the hospital with a “goodie basket” on Doctor’s Day and host all the hospital staff at a yearly Appreciation Luncheon.
