Understanding Medicare and the choices available during Annual Enrollment can be challenging. To help area residents better understand their options and prepare for the coming year, Pershing Health System will host two free Medicare Information Sessions on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
The sessions will be held in the Pershing Health System Hospital Dining Room, 130 E. Lockling Ave., Brookfield. The program is free and open to the public. Coffee and snacks will be served.
With changes anticipated for Medicare plans in 2027, including fewer plan options, higher prices and potentially increased out-of-pocket costs, the informational sessions are intended to give Medicare beneficiaries and their families an opportunity to learn more before making coverage decisions during the Annual Enrollment Period.
Representatives from Managed Care Partners will present the program, providing an easy-to-understand overview of Medicare and the different types of coverage available.
The presentation will cover the “ABCs of Medicare,” including Medicare Parts A, B, C and D, along with Medicare Advantage plans, Medigap and Medicare insurance options. Presenters will explain what Medicare Advantage is, why individuals may consider it and how it works. The program will also discuss Annual Enrollment options and provide additional resources to help participants better understand Medicare coverage.
The sessions may be especially helpful for individuals who are already enrolled in Medicare and want to review their coverage for 2027, those who will soon become eligible for Medicare, and family members or caregivers who help a loved one make health care coverage decisions.
Medicare coverage is not necessarily one-size-fits-all. An individual’s health care needs, prescription medications, preferred providers and anticipated costs can all play a role when considering coverage options. Learning how the different parts of Medicare work can help beneficiaries know what questions to ask as they evaluate their choices.
Attendees are encouraged to bring their Medicare questions and take advantage of the opportunity to learn more in an in-person setting.
There is no charge to attend, but participants are asked to register in advance by contacting Shelley Dorrell at 660-258-1148 or shelley.dorrell@phsmo.org.
Pershing Health System encourages Medicare beneficiaries, individuals approaching Medicare eligibility, family members and caregivers throughout the area to attend either the 10:00 a.m. or 1:00 p.m. session.
