Sleep Studies

Better Sleep Can Mean Better Health

Do you spend enough time in bed but still wake up feeling tired? Do you struggle with daytime sleepiness, loud snoring or restless sleep? A sleep disorder could be affecting the quality of your sleep and your overall health.

Quality sleep plays an important role in physical and emotional well-being. At Pershing Health System, our Sleep Lab provides diagnostic testing to help identify sleep disorders and give your healthcare provider the information needed to determine appropriate treatment.

Our Sleep Lab is under the direction of Dr. Mohammad Jarbou, MD, a board-certified physician specializing in Sleep Medicine.

Conditions We Evaluate

Sleep studies can help identify or evaluate a variety of sleep-related conditions, including:

  • Sleep apnea
  • Insomnia
  • Snoring
  • Excessive daytime sleepiness and fatigue
  • Restless legs syndrome
  • REM sleep disorders

What Happens During an In-Lab Sleep Study?

A sleep study is a noninvasive and generally comfortable test. While you sleep, sensors placed on your body collect information about your sleep and breathing.

During the study:

  • Sensors monitor brain activity, heart rate, breathing, movement and blood oxygen levels.
  • A trained sleep technician monitors the study and is available if you need assistance.
  • There are no needles and the test is not painful.
  • Your sleep study is scored and interpreted by a qualified physician, providing your healthcare provider with information to help diagnose a sleep disorder and determine appropriate next steps.

In-Lab and Home Sleep Studies

Depending on your symptoms, medical history and your healthcare provider’s recommendation, testing may be performed in the Pershing Health System Sleep Lab or in your own home.

Your healthcare provider can help determine which type of sleep study is appropriate for you.

An Accredited Sleep Lab Close to Home

The Pershing Health System Sleep Lab is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC), demonstrating our commitment to meeting nationally recognized standards for quality and patient care.
