Diabetes can affect nearly every part of daily life, from the foods you eat and medications you take to physical activity, stress and your overall health. Whether you’ve just been diagnosed or have been living with diabetes for years, questions and new challenges can come up along the way.
That’s where diabetes education can make a difference.
At the Pershing Diabetes Center, diabetes education is about much more than telling you what you should or shouldn’t do. It’s about helping you understand your diabetes and giving you practical tools and support to manage it in a way that works with your everyday life.
Diabetes education that fits your life
No two people experience diabetes exactly the same way. Your medications, eating habits, activity level, health goals and daily routine are unique to you — and your diabetes education should be, too.
Together, we can focus on areas such as monitoring blood sugar, understanding medications, nutrition, physical activity, reducing the risk of complications and developing healthy habits that are realistic and sustainable.
The goal isn’t perfection. It’s helping you better understand your diabetes, make informed decisions and feel more confident managing your health from day to day.
Diabetes education isn’t just for the newly diagnosed
One of the misconceptions about diabetes education is that it’s primarily for someone who has just learned they have diabetes.
In reality, education and support can be helpful at many different points along the way.
You may benefit if you’ve recently been diagnosed, your medications or treatment plan have changed, you’re having difficulty reaching your blood sugar goals, you’re experiencing a new challenge, or you simply feel like you could use a refresher.
Even after years of managing diabetes, your needs can change. Having someone available to answer questions, help you work through challenges and provide practical guidance can make managing diabetes feel much more manageable.
Recognized for quality diabetes education
The Pershing Diabetes Center has reached an important milestone in our commitment to providing quality diabetes education close to home.
The Pershing Diabetes Center has been Recognized by the American Diabetes Association for Quality Diabetes Self-Management Education* and Support.

This recognition applies specifically to the Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support (DSMES) service and means the education service meets the National Standards for Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support.
For our patients, it means access to a recognized diabetes education program without having to travel far from home.
You don’t have to manage diabetes alone
After more than 20 years of providing diabetes education, one thing I’ve learned is that successful diabetes management isn’t about doing everything perfectly.
It’s about understanding your condition, learning what works for you and having the tools and support to make healthy choices one day at a time.
That’s what we want the Pershing Diabetes Center to provide — education, encouragement and support close to home.
The Pershing Diabetes Center is now accepting appointments. If you’re ready to learn more about managing your diabetes and would like personalized support, we’d be glad to help.
